Germans of all ages love peppermint and peppermint schnapps brings back memories (both very good and very very bad) for almost everybody.
But you’re no longer that 18 year old sneaking a drink of artifically colored neon green schnapps while heading to a house party on the S-Bahn. You’re a 27 year old wanting to sneak a drink of an all natural schnapps from your hip flask while waiting for your car share to arrive… to take you to a house party.
The older you get, the more things change, the more things stay the same.
You may no longer want to grab a bottle of industrially made, artificially colored, sickeningly sweetened liqueur, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t still enjoy a peppermint schnapps!
Our Eisdrachenschnaps starts with distilled spirit, to which we add crystals of pure mint oil. To that, we add cinnamon, gentian, grains of paradise, black pepper, vanilla, a pinch of salt and, of course, the Dragon’s Wormwood – Tarragon. We let that sit to slowly extract the flavors, then filter out the herbs and blend in pure sugar to create a pale, opalescent spirit that’s not too sweet, with a finish that seems to go on forever.

Spirit Base: Malted Barley from the Jura Region of France, Distilled in the Jura. Lightly fruity and sweet.
Main Flavor: Mint from natural mint oil crystals

• Gentian – Earthy, bitter notes to balance the sweetness
• Cinnamon – One of mint’s best friends in the spice world
• Vanilla – To bring a little floral note
• Grains of Paradise – Gives a little ginger-like spice

And of course: Tarragon aka Dragon’s Wormwood, for that perfect herbal, anise like flavor
